Bio

I am originally from Athens, Alabama and attended school in the Athens City School System for grades one through twelve. After graduation, I lived in Georgia and Kansas then in the late 1980's my husband and I returned to North Alabama. Since that time I have taught Elementary Music Education at Athens Elementary School, Brookhill Elementary School, James L. Cowart Elementary School, and Athens Intermediate School.

I am an active member in the American Orff Schulwerk Association and the Music Educators Association at both the State and National levels. In teaching the elements of music, I embrace a hands-on participatory approach while providing the students with varied experiences in playing a wide range of classroom instruments. In addition, I emphasize the objectives set forth in the Alabama Course of Study for Arts Education and the National Standards for Music Education.
